Former Syracuse standout Katie Rowan to take over as head coach at Wagner
Syracuse assistant coach Katie Rowan has been named the head coach at Wagner after three years directing the Orange’s offense.
“From my first visit on campus to the conversations I’ve had since, I’ve been extremely impressed with the vision of Wagner’s academics and athletics and I’m thrilled to be a part of this program,” Rowan said in a Wagner press release.
Rowan also served as a volunteer coach at SU in 2010 and played with the Orange from 2006-2009. Last season, SU had the 20th-best scoring offense in the country, scoring 12.71 goals per game.
As a player, Rowan tallied 396 points, 232 goals and 164 assists, and she is SU’s all-time leader in points and assists. Rowan tallied the third-most points and fourth-most assists in NCAA history.
Rowan replaces former Wagner head coach Liz Frisoli, who resigned on May 6 after two seasons coaching the Seahawks. Wagner finished last season 9-10 and finished second in the Northeast Conference.
