Maryland graduate transfer wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo will transfer to Syracuse, per Scout.com.

Etta-Tawo is listed on Maryland’s site as 6-foot-1, 200 pounds. In three seasons as a Terrapin, Etta-Tawo hauled in 61 receptions for 938 yards and a trio of touchdowns. Against Syracuse in 2013, the redshirt freshman had his only career 100-yard receiving day when he caught six passes, tied for a career high, for 109 yards. The Muscat, Oman native played in 13 games his sophomore year, starting six, but started just two of his 12 games his junior year, his final at Maryland.

Etta-Tawo is noted for his speed. As a sprinter at McEachern (Georgia) High School, he finished runner-up during his senior season for the Class 5A state championship.

Syracuse’s athletic site lists 11 wide receivers on the roster as well as three RB/WR hybrids, sophomores Dontae Strickland and Tyrone Perkins and junior Ervin Philips. Etta-Tawo is roughly the same size as junior wide receivers Steve Ishmael and Troy Green, as well as Perkins.

He is the third commitment Syracuse has received since National Signing Day, joining graduate transfer defensive end Gabriel Sherrod and junior college signee, cornerback Michael Moore.
