Dontae Strickland played 10-plus games in each of his four seasons for the Orange.

Former Syracuse running back Dontae Strickland signed with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday after participating in the team’s three-day rookie minicamp.

Strickland appeared in 47 games at Syracuse and finished 25th on SU’s all-time rushing list with 1,717 yards. He added 15 rushing touchdowns and also tallied 505 receiving yards and four touchdowns through the air. Strickland’s best game last year came against Boston College in the Orange’s final regular-season contest, when he rushed for a career-high 129 yards in a 42-21 win.

Strickland joins Cody Conway, Jamal Custis, Eric Dungey and Koda Martin as the fifth undrafted SU player to be signed. Ravian Pierce was also invited to the Cleveland Browns rookie minicamp. Chris Slayton, drafted in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the New York Giants, was the lone Syracuse player to be selected in 2019’s draft.

The Cardinals had the worst rushing offense in the league last year, rushing for just 1,342 yards and nine touchdowns. Aside from Strickland, Arizona currently has six running backs on its roster, including former All-Pro David Johnson.
