Syracuse closed its nonconference schedule with a 71-57 victory over Niagara on Saturday. The Orange went on a 10-0 run to open the game and held off the Purple Eagles’ comeback in the second half. Elijah Hughes led SU with 19 points and neared a triple-double, but holes in the 2-3 zone’s backline almost caused a lead to sink back into single-digits.
