Syracuse attack Chase Scanlan has been reinstated, an SU spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Orange. Scanlan was suspended indefinitely after an incident following Syracuse’s 21-9 loss to North Carolina on April 17, according to Inside Lacrosse’s Ty Xanders. He missed the Orange’s 13-11 win over Virginia before he was reinstated on Monday.

Scanlan confirmed the report of his reinstatement to US Lacrosse Magazine, saying “Yes and I’m very excited to help the team in any way win the NCAA championship.”

Immediately after the suspension, Scanlan’s mother told Syracuse.com that she hadn’t spoken to her son since the UNC game and didn’t know what happened. His high school coach Rob Genco told Syracuse.com that Scanlan said “it’s nothing but it’s become something.”

The two time All-American leads SU in goals (24) and is third in points (33). Scanlan wears the iconic No. 22, which he was given after transferring from Loyola ahead of the 2020 season. His suspension came with three regular season games remaining for the Orange, and his reinstatement with two remaining. Syracuse is scheduled to play Notre Dame this Saturday and Robert Morris on May 7.

Scanlan tied his career-high of seven goals earlier this season against Holy Cross. He added another five-point performance, including four goals, against Duke in the Orange’s 15-14 loss. At Loyola in 2019, Scanlan notched 58 points and was a second-team All-American. The sophomore was a preseason All-American honorable mention but was not included in IL’s midseason list.
