Syracuse cornerback Clarence Lewis has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced on Instagram Friday. Lewis played in 12 games for SU in 2024, notching 41 tackles and an interception.

“It’s time to turn this dream into a reality, and I’m ready to make my current and future supporters proud. It’s only the beginning,” Lewis wrote.

After four years at Notre Dame, the Edison, NJ native transferred to the Orange in the spring for his final year of eligibility. While Syracuse had multiple switches throughout the year at cornerback due to Marcellus Barnes Jr.’s health, Lewis became a consistent secondary piece.

He totaled 124 tackles over four seasons with the Fighting Irish, registering a career-high 53 in his 2021 campaign. At SU, he notched 12 pass deflections and had an interception against Stanford.

Lewis came out of Mater Dei High School (PA) as a three-star recruit, ranking as the 17th-best player in New Jersey in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports.

With his declaration for the draft, Lewis becomes the fifth player to do so this cycle, joining Jackson Meeks, Fadil Diggs, LeQuint Allen Jr. and Alijah Clark. Lewis’ absence in the secondary adds to a group that has already lost Jaeden Gould and Jayden Bellamy to UCF, Clark to the draft and Barnes Jr. to the transfer portal.
