The Alpha Tau Omega fraternity has confirmed it is in the process of returning to Syracuse University’s campus, though SU confirmed that the fraternity is still on the university’s suspended list Tuesday.
SU suspended the fraternity’s chapter from campus in Dec. 2019 for violating the university’s Code of Student Conduct. The national chapter’s spokesperson said the fraternity is currently in the final stages of returning to campus, but has not been cleared by the university.
“We are beginning the process of networking,” the national chapter’s spokesperson said in a Tuesday interview with The Daily Orange. “At the same time, we are not offering any bids. We are not inviting anyone to join. We are not giving invitations to start ATO.”
On Dec. 19, ATO’s national chapter posted on Instagram that the fraternity would return to Syracuse in spring 2025. The post said the chapter is looking for “a group of men who will impact their campus and community.”
